GRAYSON PERRY HAS A CHANGE OF HEART...
08 February 2016
Back in October we reported on Grayson Perry's controversial views on Aboriginal art. He appeared to suggest that it should be regarded as an example of ethnography, rather than being regarded as contemporary art, admitting his comments were 'not very PC'. We used the image above (Grayson's work on the left, a fantastic Pepai Carroll stoneware pot on the right) to point out to him on Twitter that the difference between his work and aboriginal art was not so great!
Interestingly, on a recent trip to Australia to install his retrospective at MCA Sydney, he apologised for his comments, admitting that he hadn't been 'very well informed'.
I like to think we helped change his mind on the matter!
