‘NO BOUNDARIES’ - LARGE SCALE SHOW OF ABORIGINAL PAINTING TOURS AMERICA
11 April 2016
‘No Boundaries: Aboriginal Australian Contemporary Abstract Painting’ began its tour of five venues in February last year, at the Nevada Museum of Art. Accompanied by a fantastic catalogue with an essay by Henry Skerritt (who wrote an essay for our show ‘Transformations’), the exhibition shows a variety of pieces from the Debra and Dennis Scholl collection. Currently showing at the Charles H.Wright Museum in Detroit, it will conclude its tour this summer at Cornell University in New York.
This ambitious programme is followed by an even more ambitious tour: ‘Marking the Infinite: Contemporary Women Artists from Aboriginal Australia’ will show over 90 works by 7 artists (including Regina Wilson, whose works we have available here).
It is always nice to see aboriginal art gaining the international recognition it deserves, something that is happening more and more often, coming on the back of a strong aboriginal showing at last year’s Venice Biennale.
