Jennifer Ingkatji b. 1964

Jennifer Ingkatji was born in Ernabella, now Pukatja, and later moved to the Amata Community in the APY Lands. Her language is Pitjantjatjara. Her paintings are centred around both Country and culture. She recalls and depicts important stories passed down to her from her father, mother and grandfather. Ingkatji’s works often remember how, a long time ago, people used to look after the Country, there was plenty of food and families were happy travelling around from place to place.

Jennifer is sister to Nyumiti Burton and also paints large scale collaborative works with her. In 2019, with the support of her sister, she relocated to Adelaide for health reasons. Since moving, Ingkatji has worked at the APY Studio Adelaide on a daily basis alongside senior women and emerging talent from the APY region.
